As we're wrapping up our year here at Dockwa HQ, we took a stroll down memory lane to see which topics and updates got the most attention. From hurricane recovery progress to some good old-fashioned boating listicles, check out your favorite posts in 2018.

10. Dockwa's 2018 Holiday Gift Guide

Our holiday gift guide squeaked into the #10 spot, stepping in for the 2017 #10 post reporting on the Dismal Swamp's post-hurricane recovery. From gadgets to books to some pretty sweet gear, we hope we made Santa's work a little easier.

9. The Best Hurricane Holes Marinas in the Chesapeake, Carolinas, and Florida

Stealing the #9 spot from 2017's Cancellations While Cruising: The East Coast's Most Accommodating Marinas, our hurricane holes post stays steady in the top 10 for its third year.

8. America's Cup History: Remembering the Film 'Wind' with Actor Matthew Modine

A quick Q&A with the star of one of our favorite sailing movies lead to some heated exchanges on our Facebook page! Imagine the rage that will ensue if we ever get to ask Robert Redford about All Is Lost

7. The Top 40 Boating Destinations in America

Our boater-style America's Top 40 list got a lot of attention, and boaters loved comparing notes on which ones they've visited, which ones are on their bucket list, and which harbors should have made the cut.

6. Figawi's Origin Story & Cheat Sheet

Dockwa got its start in New England, so it's only fair that the history of New England's most infamous sailing weekend piqued our readers' interest. Nearly making the top 10 right alongside it, our annual Figawi Cheat Sheet

5. Where to Watch 4th of July Fireworks by Boat

Holidays are better on a boat, and July 4th is no exception! Our annual update helps boaters ensure they have some patriotic sparkle in their summer.

4. Why LOA Matters (So be honest!)

From fairway considerations to linear dockage, some of you needed a reminder as to why it makes marina managers nuts when you fudge your numbers.

3. AICW Bridge Guide

We love the ICW, but that doesn't mean its bridges aren't a PITA sometimes. A ton of boaters found this quick guide to bridge heights a great addition to their ICW cruise-planning tools.

2. Crossing the Gulf Stream: How to Boat from Florida to the Bahamas

It seems we have a boatload of snowbirds in the Dockwa Boater Blog audience! From when to go to what to pack, this handy guide will have you Bahamas-bound in no time.

1. Boat Names: Twelve Tacks to Take When Naming Your Boat

Is it the boating lore? The snark? The names themselves? Whatever it is, Dockwa boaters love this tongue-in-cheek post about naming your boat, as well as our Spring 2018 Best Boat Names winners.

...Want more? Here are some bonus favorites that didn't quite make the Top 10:

"We are tied to the ocean..."

The backstory behind one of the most iconic JFK quotes was cool as heck to research. Make sure to click through to hear the audio of the speech, complete with the laughter and revered silence of America's Cup teams.

A list of 652 Dockwa marinas

This post, along with our list of 100 Marinas You Can Reserve Dockage at Instantly and The Fastest (Marina) Guns in the West, was fun to share for the simple reason that cheering on marinas is one of our favorite things, and it's exciting to see so many embracing technology.

"Put it on my tab"

We had a bigger reaction to this post than we anticipated! It seems boaters everywhere had been looking for a better solution to dockside transactions.
