Your Story Belongs in The Running Fix Newsletter

Every great cruise has a story worth telling. Feature yours in Dockwa's boater newsletter, read by thousands of cruisers like you.
What Is The Running Fix?
The Running Fix is Dockwa's monthly newsletter for boaters. It's editorial in nature. Think marina spotlights, cruising destinations, tips that actually mean something out on the water and exclusive stories from boaters across the community. It goes out the first Monday of every month, and the best stuff in it usually comes right from readers like you.
Not getting the newsletter yet? You can subscribe to The Running Fix (and it's sister newsletter, Monday Dock Talk) right here.
What Kind of Stories Are We Looking For?
First-person boating experiences that teach something, inspire something, or remind a reader why they love life on the water in the first place. A few directions that tend to work well:
- The passage that didn't go to plan, and what you wish you'd known going in
- The boat project that took twice as long as you thought and taught you something
- The marina or harbor that stuck with you, and the people who made it that way
- A piece of hard-earned knowledge you'd hand to a boater ten years behind you
Not sure if your story is a fit? Submit it anyway. (The ones you almost didn't share are usually the best ones.)
What It Means to Be Featured
Cruisers, sailors, power boaters, the whole crew. Your name and your boat, your social handle (or whatever you want credited) go right with it. You don't need to be a writer. Tell it the way you'd tell a dockmate over a beer. We'll handle the rest.
How It Works
- Fill out the short form below with your story pitch, or a completed draft if you have one, along with your contact info.
- We'll read every submission within a few weeks.
- If your story is a fit for an upcoming issue, we'll be in touch with next steps.
The stories that land in The Running Fix are the ones that get people out on the water. The good days, the bad ones, and the in-between. The passage that tested you. The anchorage that surprised you. The marina that felt like home.
If your submission is selected, we'll reach out to sync on timing and details. Once it runs, your story reaches thousands of boaters who are looking for exactly that kind of inspiration before their next trip.
A quick note from the editor:
Hey there, it's Lauren from Dockwa, your editor of The Running Fix and Monday Dock Talk. Putting these newsletters together is the best part of my week (and I read every story that comes through the form above). Here's why I love this part of the job:
Almost everything I know about boating was handed to me by somebody else. A trick at a fuel dock. A passage someone had made before me and was willing to talk about. A rigging mistake somebody caught before it cost me. The kind of knowledge that doesn't really live in books. It lives in the people who've been out there, and in the people they decide to tell.
That's what this newsletter is for. Your hard-earned lessons, your weird first night at anchor, the time you almost made it home before the storm caught you (and how you handled it). Those are the stories that bring along the next round of boaters, and remind the rest of us why we do it in the first place.
If you've been wondering whether what happened to you out there is worth sharing, it is. Send it my way (yes, even the rough version) and let's talk.
See ya on the water!

Lauren from Dockwa
