See you later, February! As the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and (we hope) out like a lamb. As winter begins to wane, we are starting to feel the spring fever set in.
Welcome to March: the month of the luck of the Irish, basketball, and the official start to spring!

Fall River – March 9: The Insider's Tour of the Engine Room is taking place at Battleship Cove Maritime Museum. Explore the rarely seen inner-workings of a mighty battleship and destroyer with engine room veteran Hugh Doyle.
Hyannis – March 22 - 24: The 13th Annual Boatbuilders Show on Cape Cod is taking place at the Resort & Conference Center. See a large selection of unique, custom, limited-production sail and power boats in both wood and fiberglass.
March 9: Annual Chili Contest Fundraiser at Stone Path Malt.
March 13: Kindness Rocks Project Night from 6 - 9 PM at the Onset Bay Association.
March 2: North Sails is hosting a North U Sail Seminar to talk about the different between mid-fleet and podium, how to trim your sails to get the most out of your boat and more.
March 5: Clean Ocean Access (COA) is proud to host the Inaugural Annual Meeting at the Newport Yacht Club from 5 - 7 PM.
March 6: Clean Ocean Access is hosting the film screening of "A Plastic Ocean" at Salve Regina University in the O'Hare Academic Building.
March 7: Clean Ocean Access is hosting Green Drinks Newport at Sail Newport. Enjoy drinks while listening to the COA staff speak about ways to reduce your waste foodprint and divert food scraps from the landfill.
March 12: The Newport Public Library is putting on an Ocean Science Speaker Series which will feature Clean Ocean Access Program Manager, Eva Touhey. She will present her thesis work exploring the impacts of plastic bag ban policies on social behaviors within Rhode Island coastal communities.
March 16: The 63rd Annual Newport Saint Patrick's Day Parade. The parade will last roughly two hours and begin around 11:00 AM.
March 28: Undressing History: Active Pursuits, Women's Sportswear. Join the Newport Historical Society and Rhode Island Historical Society for a look at the clothing women wore to participate in sports and athletic activities during the 19th and early 20th centuries including swimming, ice skating, and other sports.
Middletown – March 17: Free Guided Bird Walk at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Be sure to count up as many bird species as you can!
March 10: 2nd Sunday Winter Trail Walk at Roger Williams Park. Join a moderately-paced winter walk around a section of the Park's Big Lakes Trail from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
March 22 - 24: The New England Saltwater Fishing Show is taking place at the Rhode Island Convention Center. It is the largest pure saltwater fishing show in New England.
March 4 - 10: Mystic Restaurant Week 2019. With more than 20 participating restaurants and a variety of cuisine, there will for sure be something for everyone to try.
March 14: Book Talk with the Author at the Mystic Seaport Museum. Former crew member, John Kerr will discuss the writing process and the dreamers that help tell the history of the Regina Maris. The contributing editor, Carol Simons also a former crew member will speak on her editing and entanglement with the ship.
March 21: Sail Into Spring NESS Event at the Spicer Mansion. The New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) will be kicking off spring with a cocktail party at the Spicer Mansion.
March 24: The 16th Annual Mystic Irish Parade will feature over 200 marchers and 100 units going down the streets of Mystic.
March 7: The Women's Sailing Club of Annapolis will be hosting a workshop at the Sailing Club Headquarters for every skill level. The workshop will be teaching you how to cope with an emergency situation, determining what needs to be done and the order to do it!
March 15 - 16: The 23rd Annual Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium is taking place at the United States Naval Academy. There will be 15 technical presentations that will cover a range of topics related to the design of sailing yachts.
March 12: The UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is hosting a Winter Science Series: Fish Sampling Cruise. During the cruise, you will be joining the crew of the R/V Sea Dawg for a sampling trip in Wassaw Sound.
March 15 - 16: Celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2019 on River Street! This event draws over 300,000 visitors to River Street to celebrate at the waterfront.
Florida & The Keys
March 9: The Marine Industries Association of Collier County is hosting a Free Kids Fishing Clinic at Naples Fishing Pier.
March 4 - 10: Miami Sailing Week. Established in 2010 with the goal in mind of creating a fun filled week of activities related to the sport of sailing that we all love! Throughout the week different classes will be racing on the waters of Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove.
March 1 - 3: The Tampa Bay Boat Show is happening at the Florida State Fairgrounds and will showcase area boat dealers and manufacturers, the latest in boating and fishing supplies, and great accessories.
Panama City Beach – March 15 - 17: The Emerald Coast Boat & Lifestyle Show is more than just a boat show. It will show fishing, fitness, boating, cycling, kayaking, outdoor supplies, paddle-boarding and much more. The show will be held at the Aaron Bessant Park.
San Diego – March 15 - 17: The Helly Hansen NOOD Regatta will be taking place at the San Diego Yacht Club & The Coronado Yacht Club.

March 15 - 21: The NHYC Cabo Race is taking place at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.
March 17: ScubaFest 2019 at Corona Del Mar. Enjoy a fun filled day of scuba, beach events, and camaraderie for the whole family.
March 29: Sleep in the Deep at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Snuggle down for the night in the Passages of the Deep exhibit's 360 degree tunnels, surrounded by almost a million gallons of sea water and more than 100 sharks, halibut, rays and other marine life.
Seattle – March 14: Join Atlas Obscura Society Seattle at the Center for Wooden Boats to learn about Right Whales in the discussion on Searching for the North Pacific Right Whale. These whales are some of the largest animals ever to exist!
