September flew by! For New England boaters like us, October means crisp cool weekend day sails before we winterize boats and plot our escapes for warmer climates. Regardless of the month, more marinas are coming on board – see who's new!
All summer long I've been tuning into the Puffin livestream from Seal Island, and it made me pretty nostalgic for the Maine cruising. If you're a Mainer, set aside a weekend to explore the coast one last time before our feathered friends head south. While you're at it, plan a stop at South Port Marine in Portland!
If you're new to Westport Point, prepare to add a new favorite port to your cruising destination stockpile. Situated squarely between Newport and New Bedford, Westport is a great stopover as you explore Buzzards Bay by boat. Not to mention, they're one of the Massachusetts marinas that are extremely accommodating to boaters when it comes to their cancellation policy. Check out our post on the best East Coast marina cancellation policies, and plan your stay at Westport Yacht Club!
In case you're having déjà vu:we included Bay Pointe Marina in our last marina round-up– the wrong Bay Point Marina. We love the folks in Quncy, Massachusetts, but an official welcome to our new friends in New York is definitely in order! Check out this great little spot on Long Island's southern coast:
Driving across the state of Florida last April took me about 5 hours. To make the trek by boat, you're going to be glad you planned for a stopover. River House Marina is just the spot! If you're swapping the Gulf Coast for the Atlantic, book your stay:
This sweet little spot on the east coast of Florida sits between Palm Bay and Vero Beach. Offering a stack of amenities and a protected night tucked inside the Indian River, you'll be glad you tied up!
We typically list new marinas from North to South, but had some last minute contenders for the September Recap and want to get the word out as soon as possible! Plus we know you boaters are quick on the uptake and can mentally reposition yourselves.
So with that, welcome Thamesport Marina! Picturesque and plenty of slips to accommodate you, your group, or the whole fleet. Plan your stop:
Hotspots and yachts? Don't mind if we do. The latest greatest scene in DC situates you and your vessel in the heart of downtown. This marina opens on 10/9, so be sure to bookmark the page and head down to the waterfront for their opening weekend celebration!
And last but not least, we welcome Two Georges Marina aboard! Located one mile from the ICW in a large protected bay, this marina offers comfort and convenience.
That's the news!
Remember: If you see something, say something. In this specific instance, if you see a marina that should be on Dockwa, tell'em! Tell'em right to their face. Then email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to put us in touch.
